Mama Bird Doula Services (MBDS) branched off of Mama Bird Maternity Wellness Spa, when it became evident that there was a need for affordable and accessible doula and perinatal support to the population who we focused on, and who needed it most, women of color.

 

Our program provides the solution to two imperative needs for the betterment of birthing outcomes for Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC):

1.  We are establishing a career pathway that provides Doulas a living wage, by creating a competency-based career pathway to ensure that doulas have the education, training and work-based experiences to build skills and credentials that meet industry demand and prepare them to provide high quality culturally responsive perinatal care.

2.  We are providing a much needed service for BIPOC Birthing Families to gain access to highly skilled BIPOC Doulas for pregnancy care and postpartum support in a community care model, in order to increase awareness and access to maternal support services.
